Durometer
The Durometer is a portable, handheld device for determining the Shore A Hardness of elastomers, rubbers and other soft polymers. The device is the most widely used instrument for this application and is compliant with ASTM D 2240 , DIN 53505 and ISO 868 standards.
The Durometer makes use of a needle-like indentor loaded by a calibrated spring and measures hardness by determining the depth of penetration of the indentor into the material being tested. The Shore A Hardness value displayed on the analog dial varies from 0 to 100, 100 corresponds to maximum resistance and therefore zero penetration and maximum hardness
